Along with the NGO, Lioness Club Gandhinagar, M.B. Patel English Medium School organised a National Social Service Program at Palaj Village, Gandhinagar for 5 days. Jonte Weixle, hosted participant from Germany, who is presently studying in the same school along with 50 students of the school were part of the program.

During 5 days of the Community Service program, the students conducted several activities such as cleaning the school premises, cleaning of village, conducting election awareness program and providing knowledge on  women empowerment. Fun activities such as songs, dance and street play were also part of days.

The Program also included : Pap smear test for the women of the village wherein 200 village women underwent the test. The students taught fundamental English language to the students of the village. They also taught them patriotic songs as well as English story reading sessions were conducted.

On the last day of the Program, the students conducted several medical check ups such as Diabetes check up, Blood Pressure Check up of 200 people, Eye Check up offering low cost spectacle to 187 people. . The Program benefited the people of the village in many folds.

The Program was conducted under the significant guidance of AFS India Gandhinagar Chapter President, Dr. Varsha Parekh who is also a teacher of M.B. Patel English Medium School.

This Program gave the students an opportunity to learn the human values of empathy and compassion by directly interacting  with the rural people. They worked like true devotees of humanity.

The students would also be offered certificates from the central government on successful completion of the Program.
