Mandeep is the All-India Principal Program Advisor in the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, where she has served since July 1994.  She was instrumental in setting up the U.S. State Department’s, “Youth Exchange and Study(YES) Program,” in India in 2005 in collaboration with AFS-USA.  Click HERE to read more.

Ranjana Iyer is a practicing lawyer and has over three decades of experience and expertise as a senior litigator and has handled a vast variety of commercial disputes. I have been volunteering with AFS India in various capacities- counselor, trainer, community service coordinator, FRRO support and so much more. As a professional, I am a mental health professional, trainer and an internationally trained psychotherapist from California and Netherlands having worked with various organisations ranging from United Nations to Department of Psychiatry AIIMS, Times of India NIE, etc with an experience of working with 45+ schools across Delhi NCR through workshops and trainings. Joining as a Training and Development Coordinator as an AFS India staff in 2019, I am excited to explore what the world of Intercultural Learning holds for me!

Before AFS I have a diverse work experience for over 25 years across various schools, NGO, hospitals, businesses and export houses. My father is my inspiration. He was motivational writer & speaker and has taught me from beginning to be always positive and he gave me a thought that work is worship. I became the National Director since 2009 and lead the team at the AFS National Office in India. I have the motto “buck stops here” – that covers everything.

My Journey started with the organization as a staff who joined back in 2015.  I have been responsible for the execution of hosting year-long programs, where I had great challenges and achievement working with Host students and volunteers at the same time. At present my work with hosting continues with short-term programs with the addition to key focus work on maintaining relationships with the Alumni, Schools, and Embassies. I have always enjoyed working with Host students and volunteers, I am sure this new addition in my job profile has many new learning opportunities with Alumni, Schools, and Embassies. I happy being part of the journey of the organization where we are creating Active Global Citizens in different Capacities.

My subjects Psychology and Sociology have helped me or I would say directed me dive in the right way. AFS being my first organisation has a huge role to play in moulding my professional path. Working with an Educational Organisation simply means new learning each day. Learning has no limits or ends. My work responsibility is to take care of AFS Year as well as Short Term Programs (Outbound). It’s an added benefit of work in AFS that you get opportunity to work for & with other departments whenever required and it really gives you a sense of satisfaction as your learning never stops. At professional front, I am having 9.5 years of experience in the Education Sector and have done Masters in the fields of Marketing and Finance. Personally, I am a very Enthusiastic & Positive Person. Life has taught me to always keep trying and never give up. I always try to laugh at some point in the day especially during times that are Stressful. Outside of AFS, I enjoy dancing & cooking. My experience of NGOs began as a student in Learning Habitat Center at the Indian Habitat Center in the year 2006-2007. That one year experience of associating with LHC always attracted and encouraged me to work in the social sector. I joined an NGO known as Freedom English Academy (FEA) as an English Facilitator in November 2013. FEA provided me tremendous learning and growth opportunities. I enjoyed working at FEA as a Facilitator, Compliance Supervisor, Sr. Compliance Supervisor and Area Manager till August 2018. I enjoy travelling and exploring. AFS is an amazing organisation to associate with. Here under guidance of Divya Ma’am all are so focused at work and have fun at the same time. It’s a very dynamic organisation with lots of opportunities for everyone to learn and grow. It has been nearing two years since the day I have stepped up for immersion amongst participants of International Intercultural Exchange Programs. Before Joining AFS India, he was previously employed in a publishing company, David C. Cook India, J127 project on trauma, wounds & healing of Children at Risk. I am a student of of Economics, from Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI), New Delhi. I started my career with AFS India as Alumni Coordinator in the year April 2015. In due course of time, I also got an opportunity to be an integral part of YES department.  In my current job role, I am working with Hosting Department as one of the team members. In addition, I am also an interim ICL Support taking care of the ICL trainings and related task. My engagement with AFS has not only helped in building self-confidence but has also provided a platform to grow and learn something new every day. In spite of challenges, working with different departments have widened my horizon and given me an opportunity to enhance my skills. Besides work, I like travelling and reading.
