Mr. Rajesh Awasthi, Principal of our Member School – Choithram School, Indore Conducts Workshop in AFS Global Conference 2018 in Budapest, Hungary
It was a proud moment for AFS, India to have Mr. Rajesh Awasthi Principal, Choithram School, Indore conduct a workshop on ‘Innovative Strategies to Develop Global Competence at the School Level’ for delegates of different countries in AFS Global Conference 2018 in Budapest, Hungary on September 27, 2018. Mr. Awasthi’s workshop proposal was selected from amongst hundreds of proposals submitted by experts from all over the world.
Believing that students can be active agents of change, he believes it essential to empower them with global competence to be part of the global economy. He focused on various learning opportunities provided to students in his school to foster global competence amongst them namely, collaborative projects with international partner schools for students of different age groups, skype sessions, student exchange programmes, integrating international dimension in the curriculum with UN Sustainable Development Goals, student centred projects like School Enterprise Challenge where the children set up a business enterprise, celebration of international days, national independence days and global festivals in the morning assembly. The specially designed Intercultural Learning Curriculum by the school develops intercultural competencies among the learners in the domain of knowledge, skills and attitudes as they are exposed to the culture of one Indian state and one foreign country in each term.
Such practices prepare the students for their future by empowering them with requisite skills to develop intercultural competence, respect their own and other’s cultures, examine local, global issues with understanding and tolerance, equip them with 21stcentury skills and contribute to sustainable development. His session received acclaim from all the delegates who attended it.
