The Ahmedabad chapter organized AFS Navratri event 2019 from 04th to 07th October 2019. The event had the participation of host students, volunteers and staff member. There were total 34 host students from different parts of India who participated. There were practice sessions organized for the student where they had utmost enjoyment while learning the ‘Garba’ steps on Indian dance numbers. The music and dance vibes gave them memories of a lifetime. The chapter also arranged for nail art and traditional Heena application which the students loved to engage with. On 05th October, the student spent their time with their host families in which they were placed. The main ‘Garba‘ function was organized on 05th evening with a gathering of around 100-150 people. During the event, the volunteers, alumni and host students from Ahmedabad chapters also presented a small dance performance. It was a delightful experience for everyone.

Navratri Celebration 2019

During the stay, students were also taken on a cultural expedition of the city where they visited some famous places like Gandhi Ashram, Jain Temple and Adalaj Step Well followed by dinner at “Rajwadu” and Garba program in the evening. Students relished authentic Gujarati cuisine. Other than this, the students also had an opportunity to observe and play Garba in the local vicinity of their host family. The entire program was very well organized and appreciated by all.
