What is the AFS Youth Assembly?
The AFS Youth Assembly is a global platform that cultivates an international network of young leaders and changemakers through exchange, education, action and impact.
This event goes beyond dialogue—it’s about action. Through engaging sessions, networking with peers from around the world, and ideation challenges, you’ll gain the skills and connections to create lasting impact, guided by experts and practitioners. Whether you are a former exchange student or a future global leader, this is a chance to take your intercultural competences to the next level, boost your resumé and expand your impact and connections globally.
Two Ways of Attending:

I. Attend the Conference-Only (August 12 – 14, 2026): Join the main portion of the event by registering as a delegate for the Conference-Only. Cultivate your leadership potential, grow your networks and expand your impact in four key tracks:
Under the event theme: “Rise. Reimagine. Rebuild: A World for All,” you will explore four key tracks:
- Reclaiming Development as a Human Right for All
- Policy, Justice and Adaptation: Real-World Solutions for Climate Resilience
- Rethinking Education: Youth Innovation for Future-Ready Skills
- Bridging Divides: The Power of Connection in a Polarized World
Highlights:
- Global Cohort: Delegates from 100+ countries, ensuring strong cultural diversity.
- Intercultural & Global Skills: Workshops and dialogues building empathy, cultural awareness, and collaboration.
- Leadership & Action: Discussions, expert panels, and field experiences leading to real initiatives.
- Network & Visibility: Access to a global youth network and collaboration opportunities.
- SDG Alignment: Focused on global challenges aligned with the UN agenda

– $450 USD (Regular Fees Till 15 May)
– $595 USD (Applies from May 16 2026 to July 1 2026)

II. Attend an Academy (August 9-15, 2026): Advance your leadership and sharpen your intercultural skills beyond the main Conference! Academies are immersive, pre-conference programs designed to give you hands-on experience, expert mentorship, and a global network of peers before the main event. This registration type includes accommodation, local transportation, some meals and exclusive networking opportunities. There are two Academies to choose from:
- UN Institute of Training and Research – International Affairs Academy: Step into the heart of global diplomacy. Visit major international organizations in Geneva, engage with experts, and gain a deep understanding of the UN system. Plus: You will receive an official UN Certificate of Participation!
Highlights:
- In partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research
- Expert-led talks with UN officials and global policy leaders, interactive skills workshops and training sessions, multilateral conferences and diplomacy simulations
- Guided visits to UN agencies and international organizations
- Be a part of the 31st AFS Youth Assembly on the theme, “Rise. Reimagine. Rebuild: A World for All”
Accommodation: Double- sharing hotel accommodation in Geneva

2. Intercultural Leadership Academy: Nestled in Champéry, in the beautiful Swiss Alps, this retreat-style Academy is all about self-discovery and cross-cultural mastery. Learn to navigate complex cultural differences, adapt your leadership style, and earn an Official Certificate from AFS Switzerland.
Highlights:
- Retreat style academy where you will meet young leaders from around the world
- Practice intercultural communication and develop tools for working effectively in complex situations
- A Swiss train ride through the Alps to the historic mountain village of Champéry for the Academy and back to Geneva
- Be the part of the 31st AFS Youth Assembly on the theme, “Rise. Reimagine. Rebuild: A World for All”
Accommodation: Double- sharing hotel accommodation first in Champery, then in Geneva

Program Fees: $ 3300 *(Visa expense & airfare to be borne by the participant)

Eligibility Requirements
- Delegates must be 18-35 years old
- Proven track record of leadership experience, school, or community involvement
- Interest in global affairs, sustainable development, and youth issues
- Proficient in English (Intermediate Level)
Key Deadlines:
- Regular Conference Registration: Ends May 15, 2026
- Academy Registration: Ends June 1, 2026
- Late Conference Registration: Ends July 31, 2026
- NOTE: All deadlines are until 10:29 AM IST on the stated date
