AFS Intercultural Programs invites you to use the AFS Global Competence Readiness Index for Schools, a new self-assessment tool for schools at any grade level to identify how prepared they are to develop their students’ global competence.

A self-assessment tool for Schools to identify how prepared they are to develop their students' global competence.

The Index was developed by AFS Intercultural Programs, a global organization with over 70 years of expertise in delivering state-of-the-art intercultural learning programs that build global competence, together with international education experts from around the world. It was informed by existing tools such as the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) Global Competence Framework and the Intercultural Cities Index and Benchmarking Tool by the Council of Europe.

Foremost, this project helps advance AFS 2018-2022 Network Strategy Impact Area #2:Globalize Schools and Institutions. By offering a a “PISA-ready” tool to help prepare schools for PISA 2018, AFS supports educators and schools in delivering effective intercultural learning programs that build global competence. It further supports Impact Area #1: Develop Active Global Citizens (AGCs) by offering schools and educators at all levels a resource to develop and nurture how they foster this in their students. In addition to this, this project helps position AFS as the Intercultural Learning leader that schools and teachers go to as they need to prepare for the Global Competence dimensions measured by PISA 2018.
