Invitation Program
Overview
“Japan’s Friendship Ties Programs” is intended to promote people-to-people exchanges between Japan and the various nations of the Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean regions.
The Asian and Oceanian regional component of this exchange program is called “JENESYS2026” which is implemented in Japan’s fiscal year (JFY*) 2026. It is a continuation from “JENESYS2015”.
Objectives
- To promote mutual trust and understanding among the peoples of Japan and India to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation.
- To encourage an understanding of Japan’s economics, society, history, diverse culture, politics, and diplomatic relations.
- To convey information about Japan to the general public of India through the participants of this project.
Inbound Programs
- Participants: Youths including university / graduate students and young professional individuals
- Duration: November 30th to December 8th, 2026.

Highlights of the Program
- To attend lectures and learning sessions about Japanese politics, economics, society, history, culture, and diplomatic relations to promote a better understanding of Japan.
- To visit educational sites and institutions, high-tech and traditional industries, world heritage sites, and provincial government offices and participate in cross-cultural events, workshops, and discussions with local people.
- To participate in hands-on learning experiences such as IDEATHON and cultural arts events.
- To convey information about Japan’s attractions through reporting sessions or social networking services during/after the program.
Application Requirements
Participants must
- Mentally and physically being healthy and accommodating well in a new environment.
- Understand the purpose of the program and have knowledge and skills of one of the presented themes.
- Be able to engage in assigned group activities.
- Have a deep interest in Japan and have a future goal to become a leader in relation to Japan in each field.
- Be an Indian citizen and able to obtain a visa to visit Japan.
Fees covered
The following are arranged by AFS, and fees are covered by the scholarship.
- Round-trip international travel between Delhi and Tokyo
- Accommodation, meals, and transportation during the stay
- Medical Insurance and Overseas Travel Accident Insurance
- Note: Participants are responsible for personal items such as passports, visas, and personal spending money during the program
