AFS India started Domestic Exchange Program to give regional cultural learning to the students of the schools of different regions within India. The exchange gives students an opportunity to have intercultural learning by engaging the students into various extracurricular activities.

Between:

  1.     The Punjab Public School, Nabha (Sending)
  2.     Sunbeam School Lahartara, Varanasi (Hosting)

Date 26th – 29th September 2019. A team of 10 girls were part of this exchange program. During this eventful 4 days of exchange program, the students from The Punjab Public School, Nabha participated enthusiastically.

The day started with a brief introduction of Varanasi and why it is called the cultural capital of India. This was followed by the students getting the flavor of ‘thumri’ and ‘classical music’ from the eminent personalities of Varanasi Gharana. To have the further enhancement of cultural exposure, the students were taken to Kashi Vishwanath temple, Sarnath Museum, Tibetan Temple.

Apart from the cultural visits, the students were served with traditional food- Dal Baati which is said to be one of the most famous delicacy of this region. The students attended the art classes from the qualified art teachers in the school. The exchange ended with a friendly badminton match between the schools.
