The AFS Trivandrum Chapter organized a successful beach cleaning activity on 8 March 2025 at Poovar Beach, themed “Make Waves, Not Waste.” This initiative was conducted in collaboration with Poovar Panchayath and Sree Vivekananda Memorial Public School (an AFS Member school), with the aim of promoting environmental awareness and civic engagement among youth.
Over 40 volunteers—comprising students, teachers, and local residents—participated actively. Together, they cleaned a 100-meter stretch of the beach, collecting a significant amount of plastic, bottles, wrappers, and other non-biodegradable waste.

The event reinforced the idea that “small actions create big impact” and emphasized the importance of individual responsibility in protecting our environment and marine ecosystems.

This initiative aligns with AFS’s mission to foster active global citizens who are environmentally conscious and socially responsible. The partnership with local authorities and the school community highlighted the strength of collaborative action in achieving positive, sustainable change.
The AFS Trivandrum Chapter remains committed to leading meaningful initiatives that educate, inspire and drive community impact.
